When Philippine government and non-government organizations currently implementing anti-corruption programs, projects, and initiatives are asked what is their most urgent and critical need in order to continue, sustain and create a significant impact in their fight against corruption, this answer in one voice:  RESOURCES!!!

With a fresh mandate for the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on 30 June 2004, the launch of an anti-corruption initiative by the business sector seems to be most appropriate at this time to support a “new beginning” and the expressed willingness of the business sector to contribute to an anti-corruption fund to wipe out, if at least minimize corruption in government.  This is the Philippine Integrity Fund.

In response to the challenge, a group of men and women business leaders convened on 17 June 2004 and in a series of meetings, conceptualized the Philippine Business for Accountability and Transparency (PBAT), refined many of its points by meeting with other groups, and eventually drafted incorporation papers to give a legal personality to the organization.  This is the BUSINESS FOR INTEGRITY AND STABILITY OF OUR NATION 2020. The year 2020 is envisioned as target date for the realization of a corruption-free Philippines.

BISYON 2020 is a business-initiated and business-led private, non-stock, non-profit foundation whose primary aim is to establish a continuing and sustainable source of resources to support and maintain anti-corruption advocacy and programs/projects.

It was organized as a force to fight poverty through reducing corruption.  The face of the poor is the face of corruption. Corruption breeds poverty.  Government cannot embark on pro-poor projects because government funds are diverted to the pockets of corrupt officials.  Corruption affects everyone. Prosperity and stability cannot happen unless corruption is eliminated or at the least, minimized.
